- Bethel’s football team plays Carthage College Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bethel. Don’t have time to go to the game? Follow it here.
- Bethel Student Government hosts the United Cultures of Bethel BBQ tonight from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. on the patio outside of the seminary, followed by Movie on the Hill outside of the Brushaber Commons near Lake Valentine.
- New additions to campus this year include a sinkhole outside of the Community Life Center and a speed limit change from 19 miles per hour to 20.

- Danny Heinrich confessed to the kidnapping, sexual assault and murder of Jacob Wetterling, a Minnesota boy who had been missing from St. Joseph since 1989, according to the StarTribune. Wetterling’s remains were discovered just outside of Paynesville, Minn., less than 100 miles from Bethel. Heinrich faces a sentence of 20 years for child pornography charges, but will not serve time for the murder. The transcript of Heinrich’s confession was released this week.
- For students looking to do something active this weekend, the StarTribune offers a comprehensive map of bike trails near the metro and across the state.
National and World News
- Protests over the Dakota Access Pipeline near Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Lands sparked controversy in the past month, leading tribal leaders to attempt to convince a federal judge to revoke permits for the pipeline, according to the New York Times. Green Party candidate Jill Stein was charged with a misdemeanor for spray-painting a bulldozer on the pipeline site.
- Presidential nominees Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton exchanged heated remarks on the televised presidential forum Wednesday. The forum offered a taste of the formal debates which will start Sept. 26, just more than a month before Election Day on Nov. 8.
- Sunday marks 15 years since the attacks on 9/11, prompting the 9/11 Memorial Museum to open its first art exhibit, according to USAToday.
