Bethel News

• During election day Nov. 8, a Bethel shuttle will be available to bring students to and from Valentine Hills Elementary School to vote. Here’s the info:
  • The shuttle will run from 10:15 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. and from 5:15 – 8:45 p.m.
  • The shuttle will depart every 15 minutes from the CLC Circle.
  • Remember: even though the online Minn. voter registration deadline has passed, you can still register to vote in-person at the polls on Election Day.
  • There will also be an election night party in the Underground, be sure to stop by!
• Head to HC413 tonight from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. for an Interfaith Women’s Panel hosted by Bethel club Better Together. This event will feature three female speakers from Abrahamic faiths (A Jewish Rabbi, Muslim and Christian Pastor). Both men and women are welcome and snacks will be provided.
• Auditions for Bethel play Another Antigone are tomorrow. For more information and to sign up, check the Callboard across from the theatre. Open to all Bethel students, and you can receive a 1 credit “Projects in Performance” for involvement in a show.
• The Bethel Wind Symphony fall concert is this Friday from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Benson Great Hall. The performance is free and open to the public  – no tickets required.

• Ramsey County deputy Brett Arthur Berry drunkenly beat his K-9 partner out of frustration, but will keep his job despite pleading guilty to animal cruelty. According to the Pioneer Press, he will return to active duty immediately with the restriction that he cannot work with canines. Read more here.
• A black pedestrian stopped by Edina police officer is suing the officer and the city for racial discrimination. According to the StarTribune, he is asking for a minimum $50,000 award.
• Pearson Candy Company is developing a new brand, 7th Street Confections, named for its location in St. Paul. According to the StarTribune, Pearson’s was founded in Minneapolis in 1909 and moved to St. Paul in 1950. Read more here.

• According to The Washington Post, former officer Alexandra Drake went through field training with New Boston Police Department lieutenant Michael Masella, who allegedly developed a ‘rapability’ scale about female drivers. Read the full story here.
• CNN accepted interim Democratic National Committee chairwoman Donna Brazile’s official resignation from their network Friday, Oct. 14. According to the Los Angeles Times, supposedly hacked emails said Brazile gave Hillary Clinton’s campaign advance word about a question for a March 6 primary debate with Bernie Sanders. • According to The New York Times, protests erupted in Morocco after a fish vendor was crushed to death by a trash compactor after jumping in the garbage truck to retrieve his merchandise. Read the full story here.
