Monday Morning Coffee: J. Arthur’s

Monday+Morning+Coffee%3A+J.+Arthurs

Because everyone needs at least one cup of coffee on a Monday!

Lexi Friesen | Social Media Editor

Coffee Shop: J. Arthur’s

Menu/Prices: Aztec Mocha – $3.75

The Aztec Mocha is a seasonal drink, and there is also an Aztec Hot Chocolate. I was intrigued by the cinnamon and chocolate in the drink, however, I didn’t account for any other additional spices and how much might be added to the drink. While it wasn’t my favorite drink I’ve had, it definitely wasn’t the worst. Other good drinks that I’ve had previously here include Iced White Chocolate Mochas and their plain lattes.

Atmosphere: There are several larger rooms beyond the main room. This makes J. Arthur’s the perfect place for studying.

Seating: Seating is plentiful and there are larger tables in the back.

Music: Gentle background music only enhances the experience at J. Arthur’s, and there is live music every Friday night at 6:30.

Store Hours:

Monday – Thursday: 6:30am – 7:00pm

Fridays: 6:30am – 9:00pm*

Saturdays: 8:00am – 5:00pm

Sundays – Closed

Location: Approximately 13 minutes away from Bethel

2441 Rice Street

Roseville, MN 55113

Parking: A big, free parking lot is located in front of J. Arthur’s – you shouldn’t ever have a problem finding a spot.

Overall experience: As I mentioned earlier, J. Arthur’s is a great place to study. Free wifi is available, but there aren’t many outlets. While the hours are a little inconvenient for late night studying, this coffee shop is unique in that it isn’t a typical Caribou or Starbucks, but is still reasonably close to Bethel.

Arthur’s is also unique because of their connection to ACR Homes and Arthur’s Residential Care. The owners of J. Arthur’s, Jim and Dorothy Nelson, are also the founders of ACR Homes and Arthur’s Residential Care. J. Arthur’s was opened in 2008 as a way to provide meeting spaces and training for ACR employees. The Nelson’s also wanted this coffee shop to be a place where people with disabilities who live in ACR Homes could come to a friendly atmosphere and enjoy a cup of coffee. J. Arthur’s was named after Jim Nelson’s father, who was also the first person to be cared for in Arthur’s Residential Care.

A few last notes– the cleanliness of the bathrooms is exceptional and much appreciated, and I appreciated the kindness and patience of the baristas.
