Bethel News

• Posters in the stairwells at Bethel prompted controversy Monday and Tuesday. Student Life took the posters down Tuesday morning. Read the story here.
• Don’t miss the health fair in the Brushaber Commons today! There will also be a flu shot clinic in the Underground. Flu shots are free to all Bethel employees and students. Make sure you bring your insurance card!
• The Bethel community is having a farewell reception for Associate Dean of Intercultural Student Programs Leah Fulton from 12:30-2 p.m. in the Eastlund Room.

Local News

• Gov. Mark Dayton is creating a commission to improve policing in minority communities around the state, according to the StarTribune. The commission will be made up of law enforcement officials and a diverse range of community groups. Read what the police and the community had to say here.

• The Minnesota Security Hospital invited the public to tour nearly $56 million in new housing for patients with severe mental illness, according to the StarTribune. One of the goals of the tour was to show that the hospital is not a “dangerous, prisonlike institution.” Read the full story here.

• The US Centers for Disease Control  US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported a spike in a mysterious polio-like illness, confirmed this year in nearly half of the states in the country, according to CNN.
