7 Artists to listen to this Year

7+Artists+to+listen+to+this+Year

By Talia McWright | Lifestyle Reporter

Let’s be honest. Your playlist is getting a little… old. Get ready to open up Spotify,  Apple Music, or dare I say Pandora because these artists are sure to fulfill your vibing needs. From head bobbing in the car to dancing alone in your room when you think no one’s watching we’ve got you covered!

#1 NEZZA

Relatable, funny and a latina queen, NEZZA needs to be your next listen. A lifestyle and book YouTuber and Instagram influencer, Nezza’s content is a reflection of her authentic and bubbly personality. Her love for music is deeply rooted in her Dominican/Colombian heritage, and shows through in her Latin-American R&B albums.

#2 Lizzy McAlpine

Are you going through it? Need a good cry? Lizzy’s your girl. Philadelphia born, McAlpine’s music career began while studying at Berklee College of music, and skyrocketed thanks to TikTok. Her latest video project entitled “Five Seconds Flat” is a creative film style inspired collection of the music videos from her album, and you should watch it.

#3 Dijon

A personal favorite, Dijon’s voice is smooth like your mom’s favorite pair of satin pajamas. If you’re a fan of Frank Ocean, Dijon has got to be added to your list. His emotional alternative R&B style has electric rock and blues influence from artists like Little Feat, Burial and Lucinda Williams.

#4 Sam Rivera

Praising God in Spanish and English while sounding like Justin Bieber at the same time… What more could you want? Raised in the Church as a PK, (Pastor’s Kid) Rivera’s relationship with faith has been challenging. After a period of hopelessness, Rivera found his love for life and God in a piano.

#5 Burna Boy

If you’ve never jived to afrobeats, what are you waiting for? Nigerian singer, Burna Boy, has won awards from BET, the Grammys and more. You’ll find his newest bops in top 50 playlists from all over the world, and hopefully yours too! Without a doubt, Burna Boy will have your hips moving, hands up and head bobbing.

#6 Luke Combs

Whether country music reminds you of home, or couldn’t be further from it, Luke Combs is worth the listen. King of the baseball cap, Combs will make you want to kick up your feet and get in the country groove. Originally from North Carolina, Combs left his hometown to pursue his music dream in Nashville.

#7 Asha Elia

Bethel approved, worship the Lord with Asha Elia’s chill R&B vibes. This London-based singer is strong in her faith and creates music to spread the messages of the gospel. Her songs are great for studying, showering and shouting hallelujah!
