The Bethel University Royals women’s basketball team won Saturday over the College of St. Scholastica, keeping its aspirations of taking the MIAC one-seed. The Saints and Royals were tied for third in the standings before the Royals pulled a 77-71 victory. Bethel’s 11 wins keeps them just one game out from first place, 12-win Concordia College. Junior forward Emily Erickson led the team with 18 points, while four of her teammates added their own double-digit totals.

Amid a three-game skid against the College of St. Scholastica Saints, the Bethel University men’s basketball team relied on 26 points from junior guard Blake Schmitz to snap that losing streak and remain in the fight for MIAC postseason action. Bethel currently sits at seventh in the MIAC. The top six teams make the playoffs. The Royals distributed the ball well in the 85-70 win, allowing four players to tally double-digit points.
