Bethel University students worship during chapel service, Wednesday Sept. 25, 2024. The “Come and See” Chapel series is a deep dive into the Gospel of John, beckoning students to experience the fullness of the Lord. “For the first time, at Bethel, the entire community is studying the Gospel of John. We’re doing the same thing, talking the same language, pursuing and asking to hear from God using the same content. It unifies our campus in a unique and neat way,” campus pastor, Nick Cocalis, said.

The Bethel University football team huddles up postgame and recites the Lord’s Prayer, a team tradition even in defeat. The Royals 2024 record now sits at 8-2 after falling 41-33 in the MIAC championship game to St.John’s University. “I was just proud of our guys battling, and came up short,” Bethel head coach Mike McElroy said. “And got to find ways to make plays and big stuff happen, and we made one less big play today than they did.”

Historic season comes to an end

Sad you didn’t win the longboard at Friday’s Bingo event? Here are seven things happening on and off campus this week to cheer you up.

  1. Want to go see the team that somehow is going to win their division play one of the last regular season games this year? Come to the Twins game Friday. Tickets will be sold in the BC from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. throughout the week for $12 each. 
  2. Constitution Day will be celebrated Monday in CC430. Come listen to the University of Minnesota’s Kathryn Pearson talk about her research on women in Congress. Copies of the Constitution will be provided.
  3. Want to leave this campus AND this country? Come visit the Study Abroad Fair stands Wednesday in the BC from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. 
  4. This year’s Twin Cities Harvest Festival and Maze features the best baseball team in Minnesota, the St. Paul Saints. (Yes, they do have a better record… we checked.) Free admission to the car show, carnival and pumpkin patch open until Oct. 30th.
  5. Get ready to dig out the box beneath your bed hiding your Hermione Granger wand, because Union Depot in Lowertown St. Paul is hosting “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” Friday. The event starts at 6 p.m. and the movie begins at 8 p.m.
  6. Want to enjoy the nice weather by going on a walk around a lake? A lake that isn’t Lake Valentine? Try Silverwood Park in New Brighton. You can pick up some custard from our own Sarah Bakeman’s Culver’s on the way back to campus.
  7. Nine days until Men’s Dance. Judges have been chosen and sign-ups have begun.
